Goodwood SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard, unique as it was, featured Goodwood Motor Circuit racing classics from both the Members’ Meeting and the Revival. From the Gerry Marshall Trophy, to the RAC TT Celebration, SpeedWeek featured all the big-hitting races.
For racing fans, that means one thing. A whole year of Goodwood circuit racing action crammed into one event – a whole year of daring dives, heart-stopping manoeuvres and epic overtakes, the best of the latter we’ve compiled above. At Goodwood, the racing is fast, so that means overtakes are often a game of braking zone roulette. Who has the nerve to stay in the loud pedal the longest before anchoring up?
There’s also the question of what corner you’re pushing into. Into Madgwick there’s the crest that can send you wide, into St. Mary’s, well, it’s St Mary’s. There’s no messing with that dip. Consider also the difference in machinery. A nimble Mini going around the outside of a leviathan Rover SD1 or Ford Galaxie, depending on what race you’re watching, is a fly buzzing around a hippo.
