Video: Glorious '80s hillclimb action

In today’s technological age, anything less than 1080pHD is bordering on sacrilege. But here at GRR, blurry, grainy footage is our bread and butter. And even better if it features an early eighties hillclimb…

Join us this morning on the hazy sidelines of the Course de Côte de Col St Pierre and revel in the analogue age of hillclimbing. Immerse yourself in six minutes of glorious sights and sounds as iconic cars make their way up the sweeping climb. From Alpine A110s to BMW E30s there are contenders from almost every type of car around.

Ascending roughly 350 metres over 5km, the Course de Côte de Col St Pierre isn’t the steepest course we’ve ever seen, but with an average speed in excess of 80mph, it certainly makes up for that in the speed stakes. To this day, the track still features in the FFSA Championnat d’Europe de la Montagne.
