Video: 11 minutes of rally drivers getting it wrong

08th September 2022

Rally drivers get it wrong sometimes. And when they do the margins for error are much, much smaller than you would find on a circuit.

As many, many drivers found out at the recent Rally Ypres, Belgium’s round of the World Rally Championship. What the Ypres area cannot provide in jumps and soaring climbs, it can in tight roads with fast corners.

And that means excitement at speed. But, as we said, it can also mean offs. This video is a compilation of drivers, from the very top to the bottom of the WRC’s various strata, getting it rather wrong in Belgium. Thankfully there’s nothing drastic – just the one roll – and even then rally cars are extraordinarily hardy things these days, so it’s a rather enjoyable 11 minutes of recoveries and professionals exploring the very limits of what they can do.

Welcome to Goodwood Elevenses, a mid-morning helping of motoring-related amusement to help break up your day. Watch the last video: Have you ever seen $50million of hypercars in the same place?
